There is something not quite right about Glen Beck. I’ve thought it for some time. “Oh, but he cares about America,” you say. “He is patriotic and believes in God.”
So? And your point is what? That conservatives can not be deceived or be deceivers?
Glen Beck and his day of Destiny is weird to me. Are we Christians ever really called to help full fill someone else’s so-called destiny? Beck’s destiny as he calls it, is really to see how many people he can gather in his name, the name of Beck.
Yeah yeah, I know it is about supposed to be about God, America, apple pie and being patriotic. Whatever. But I refuse to be pimped out for and by mere man. That’s right — pimped out. That is exactly what Glen Beck is doing in making such a big following for himself under the guise of God and country. My gosh, do some of you have so little discernment that you can not see that he even calls it, his day of destiny? You must ask yourselves what are you being used for?
I believe this movement among Christians for God and country is part of the latter day delusion, part of the apostasy. Really, I do. I believe in standing for God and country. However, I believe this movement is being used in such extreme that it is becoming another gospel, a different gospel that Paul warned us about:
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. — Galations 1:6-10 –
Since when are any of us called to help Glen Beck or any other to full fill a personal day of destiny? Seems to me, the Christian ought to be more concerned about letting Jesus full fill HIS destiny. One of, bringing others into His marvelous kingdom of light. Speaking the truth of the Gospel. Warning the unruly, lifting up feeble hands and one of the most important, NEVER compromising the truth for the sake of peace and conformity with a lie.
Glen Beck is a deceiver. Whether he knows it or not, he is a deceiver. He has set himself up high like some modern day prophet. He has even said as much on his radio program a week or so ago! He compared himself to Jeremiah as he soothingly preached his different gospel to his audience. Jeremiah indeed! God told Jeremiah no one would even listen to him. Beck has thousands of followers who listen to him. WHERE is the comparison in that? There is none. Not one person on earth today can say no one listens to them. Someone somewhere WILL and does listen to you. For Glen Beck to compare himself to one of the greatest prophets of all time is ridiculous and self-serving at the least.
Beck is a Mormon. He does not serve the same God as Christians do. It may look good, it may sound good, it may even have an odor that is refreshing to some (most anything would be compared to the ungodliness that assaults our senses every day) BUT, a lie is as much as a stench in the nostrils to Almighty God as the most vile sin. Perhaps more so, as it creates an image of God that is not true. Do we really have to be reminded of these words?
For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. – Revelation 22:18,19 –
Wikipedia: The Angel Moroni is an angel that Joseph Smith, Jr. said visited him on numerous occasions, beginning on September 21, 1823. The angel was the guardian of the golden plates, which Smith said were buried in a hill near his home in western New York, and which he said were the source material for the Book of Mormon. Moroni is an important figure in the theology of the Latter Day Saint movement, and is featured prominently in Mormon architecture and art. Three Witnesses besides Joseph Smith said they saw Moroni in 1829 visions, as did several other witnesses who each said they had their own vision.
Moroni is said to be the same person as a Book of Mormon prophet-warrior named Moroni, who was the last to write in the golden plates. The book says that Moroni buried them before he died after a great battle between two pre-Columbian civilizations. After he died, he was resurrected, became an angel, and was tasked with guarding the golden plates, and with eventually directing Joseph Smith to their location in the 1820s. According to Latter Day Saint movement theology, Moroni still has the plates and several other Book of Mormon artifacts in his possession.
Come on, give me a break. THIS IS AN ANGEL THAT PREACHES ANOTHER GOSPEL THAT PAUL WARNED ABOUT. For Christians somehow to overlook that for the sake of a conservatism agenda is wrong! It is compromise.
Beck even says that your soul will be healed by going to this event. Really? Souls are healed by Jesus. I say Jesus is nowhere in this event. I say it is a move of the flesh; trusting in the strong arm of the flesh. I say it has the stench of soulishness all over it.
Why judge something that brings hope to people, RH, some may be asking? Because it is not real hope. It is no better than the hope that obama promised. It is putting trust in man and his plans. In this case it is even worse. It is preparing the Bride of Christ to line up with apostates, heretics and the anti-christ through politics.
So as the thousands are helping Glen Beck declare his day of destiny, I have to ask, what is it of eternal value that you will bring back home with you? More of a hunger for the truth, or just more patriotism?
I suspect, that many will come home just as empty as they were before they made the trip. In that event, I would have to tell you, stop putting your hope in man and his plans to defend your rights, your speech, your beliefs, etc. The day is coming when we will know who our true Deliverer is. It will not be the likes of Glen Beck or any other mere man, political party or movement — but God in heaven who sees and knows the hearts of all men. Him shall we serve, worship and obey, and no other. Him shall we follow and no other.

Redeemed Hippie, I praise God for your boldness and for your passion for His truth!!! As Christians, we can no more pronounce Glenn Beck’s movement to be of and for the only true God, than we can say the same of the likes of Todd Bentley, or any of the many other false ministries! We are all going to have to be so very careful in these days of deception, there are definitely scores of demonic “angels of light” out there banking on their ability to deceive the masses – for their own profit and for their own glory.

Geri, I thought the same thing concerning Tod Bentley and other false ones. Just becasue something “feels” good, does not mean it is of God. Beck might “feel good” to some people, but those who know the word of God, KNOW he is in deception. Really… there is no excuse for any Christian to compromise on this. None what so ever.

Truly we are in perilous times — and our adversary is most wily and crafty. One of his most deceptive weapons is aimed at hindering the prayers of the saints. If he can create a mingled sacrifice, an unholy alliance, deceiving multitudes to join hand-in-hand with sinners, He knows that God will not hear their prayers. Oh, they can pray. Oh, they can tell everyone to get on their knees and pray — but they serve another God. And to join them on their platform is to forsake truth and fall into a snare. God, open the eyes of your children and set a trumpet to the mouth of those true sheep in the pulpits. Cause them to clearly mark and avoid those who profess to know God but in works and belief deny the only True God and Saviour, our Lord and King — the ONLY King. King of Kings and Lord of Lords — Jesus Christ the Righteous. You that love righteousness, forsake evil. Depart from following patriotism and return to following Jesus, loving not your own life unto the death.

Annie, excellent words of edification and truth. I would do well to heed them myself! Thank you!

It is interesting that you have this take because I could agree with some of what you are saying and yet add to it a fresh perspective.
A number of my friends attended yesterday and I would have also because I have been supportive of the Tea Party and have participated in a spiritual rededication to Biblical Christianity in the patriot movement. I was unable to attend but was able to watch the event on live feed. While I listened, I had a sense that the event was what CS Lewis would have referred to as “milk and water”, referencing God in the gauzy all encompassing borderless terms of ecumenism.
The entire gathering seemed like it could have been sponsored by the United Nations or the World Council of Churches. There was no Biblical ‘meat or potatoes’ and certainly I was left with a sense that I was glad that I did not travel across the country for an event of such little substance. The entertainment was also unnecessary in my opinion, unless a worship set had been planned in response to a message of repentance and rededication to Christ. It was presentational not invitational.
I think yesterday’s gathering was an opportunity missed for Glenn Beck to lay out a better overview of the situation and a Biblical road map for spiritual and political recovery. It did not occur and the real point was missed.
Although I am a pretty skeptical and cynical observer, I think Glenn Beck believes in what he is saying in the best way he can. Yes, he is in the Mormon church – but I believe that it is possible to be a Christ follower in that cult. I pray he will come out of it. But I think that even he is being encouraged and used for an even more diabolical purpose than we suspect – the purpose of ecumenism and diaprax.
Ecumenism is the embracing of ‘one world-ism’ and the diaprax is the use of Hegelian dialectical manipulation of God’s people and unbelievers into a synthesis to achieve a result. Despite Bill Hybels and Rick Warren’s approval of using such deception and psychological manipulation to sell church attendance and participation, such tactics certainly appear unjustifiably immoral and ungodly.
We, as Christians, know that the real issue in America is that men’s hearts are far from the true God in this land. In America, we have become perverted, selfish, callous, indifferent to others needs and disobedient to God in every way. The problem I see is, for the most part, we are not sorry or repentant. We like our sins and have no intention on doing otherwise. Our godless corrupt leaders are simply a symptom of the disease rampant in American hearts across the land.
The fact that so many people were willing to travel across the country points to a hunger in this land that Christ can fill. There is a remnant in this world that loves the Lord and longs for Him. There are some people still searching for Him today. There is still hope. And He will come for His own and receive them unto Himself that they might be with Him.

Lentenlands, I agree, I think Beck is being used for some diabolical thing, also. Does he know? I think so. It would be hard to make 50 million bucks a year and not know what is expected of you.
As far as him knowing the real Jesus…. well if he is following the jesus of the mormons, then it is not the same Jesus I follow. The Jesus I kow did not have Satan for a brother! The Jesus of the Word of God is the ONLY begotten son of God. Therefore, that alone makes Beck a follower and teacher of a false Gospel.
You made many good observations with your comment. You are so right, this movement is just the beginning of a deeper movement into ecumenism.
Yes, you are right: there is a remnant and I hope and pray I am in it!
