Helping folk after tornado outbreak in Alabama

I have friends who survived the Cullman, Alabama tornados. I have wanted to help, but do not know how. I can not personally get there and even so, not sure if I could with all the destruction. Not convinced that mail service is even up and running. Many places lost their police departments, fire department, churches…everything. A lot of people are on their own as electricity is out and like my friend told me while she heats up water on their grill, “we are so spolied.” Yes, some of us have been very spoiled. The thoughts of lights merely flickering during a storm can irratate us, but to do without for days, weeks, perhaps months on end is enough to test anyone’s durability.

I wish I knew how to reach my friend and send her plenty of supplies and anything else she needs at this time. But I don’t. All I can do from here at the moment is make an appeal to you, the readers, to try and help in any way you can. If you know of someone or even a stranger through someone you know — then please reach out and help — if you are able.

I was able to get the following from her husband off facebook this morning. He had this to offer:

Several folk have inquired as to how that might help during our local time of challenge…several have been from out of state. Some local.

Thank you for your concern and compassion.

What comes to mind is this. Many people are effected, especially those of the “hourly” wage. No power. No work. Bills still come. I ask that you seek the Lord. Perhaps he would have you help a friend, a family member, the one behind the counter that you encounter on a consistent basis, etc. So often we look to organizations when the Lord might be having us to slip a couple of bills to the person in front of us.

For consideration…

This was hard to watch as I am some one who has been terrified of storms. But, if you are able, watch till the very end.

I’m amazed at people who have either the courage or stupidity to chase these storms and record them.

At the end, we all are reminded that it will be one another we need. Not big government. If your neighbor/stranger needs you. Help them. Let us all help one another in the days to come. I believe events are going to come to us all, whether rich or poor, black or white, Democrat or Republican.

Language is a little coarse at times, but I can over look it, considering what was going on.

(Thank you to Dale who made me aware of this video. God bless and watch over all of you in Alabama, my brother.)
